Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC)’s latest global survey reveals high-levels of economic crime are not unique to South Africa.

The survey involving 115 countries looks at offences like money laundering, fraud, bribery and cyber-crime.

South Africa has the most economic crime according to an international PWC report, with 69 percent of respondents reporting they experienced economic crime in the past 24 months.

PWC’s Trevor White said 82 percent of the respondents are from the private sector.

“It’s very wrong for people as South Africans have been known to say it’s the public sector problem and it’s a government problem. It’s not restricted to the public sector, these are the results for the private sector.”

White said South Africa needs to change its corporate ethics in order to eradicate economic crime. (http://ewn.co.za)
